We had Savannah's party today at All Fired Up, the local pottery studio that has a great party room. She picked a beach/luau theme for her party! No big surprise -- she does love the beach like her mama! This morning, we worked on beachy cupcakes that that had beach umbrellas (okay, they are cocktail umbrellas, but she doesn't know that!), flip flop gummy candies, surf boards, and sand (crushed graham crackers).
We had hula skirts, hibiscus clips for their hair, flower leis galore, and even coconut cups to drink out of. Even though I told the boys that boys in Hawaii wear grass skirts and leis, they didn't buy it and not one of them wore them (even though they were green & blue). Boys.
We had preschool friends, kindergarten friends, neighbors, and dancing friends.Somehow we ended up with a girls' table...
and a boys table... (plus our neighbor Katie & mom Evan)
We even had a buddy for Gage. This is Rush, he is Gage's friend in preschool. His brother Reed (who was in Savannah's preschool class) is also in her Kindergarten class! Gage was so excited to have Rush there! The boys finished their pottery painting pretty fast (Gage painted a car and Rush painted a hedgehog), these two little buggers swiped their moms' phones and settled in the corner to play games while the girls finished their painting.
Savannah painted an owl plate. And, the pottery studio painted a whale plate for her that all of her friends signed before they left. We sang happy birthday to our sweet 6 year old, blew out 1 candle (we were afraid 6 candles would catch the umbrella on fire!) and then she busted into some presents.
So, she ended up with Legos, Easy Bake oven refills, crafts, a handmade necklace from Rush & Reeds' very talented jewelry making mom, some baby doll stuff, and an Ariel swimming pool. And, she is such a good sister she shared her crafts with her brother when she got home so they could both work on them. I'm afraid he would not have done the same if the tables were turned!
It could only have been better if Daddy could have been there (he is at a conference).
